about

Throughout the 00's, Aaron Semer wrote and performed under the name "The Plains" and released two albums: 2002's "On Earth as it is in Heaven" and 2006's "The Boy in the Mansuit". Some regard these as classics of the 00's Seattle scene. On the debut, The Plains was Semer performing nearly all the instruments himself. After the release of that album, a live trio was formed with Jonathan "Jonballs" Kilian on drums and Josh Atkins on bass. Following a few years of playing and touring together, this lineup went into the studio to record the bulk of "Mansuit" in 2006. Not long after that, The Plains disbanded and Semer set-out on his own performing in a number of Seattle bands and projects before releasing his debut album under his own name, 2015's "Love Amidst Collapse". While "Collapse" included stripped-down acoustic renditions of a handful of songs from The Plains era, many of these songs were relegated to the dustbin of history. Until now. This collection of songs represents the lyrics and music Semer wrote in his 20s.

“Ohio native Aaron Semer is blessing Seattle with his presence before catapulting to mega-fame… A major, multifaceted, and eccentric talent. A listener feels as if these songs have always been there, waiting for someone to discover them.” - The Stranger, 2002
